About PACG
Progressive Action for the Common Good (PACG) began organizing in January of 2005 as a large non-partisan citizens’ group of progressives in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois aimed at engaging folks to take action on a variety of issues within our society.
Our mission statement is: As progressives, we empower people to take action for positive change and social justice by coordinating a network of community forums and events aimed at educating and engaging citizens to work for the common good of all.
Our core values are: Social Justice, Empowerment, Diversity, Sustainability and Community.
Progressive Action for the Common Good (PACG) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions to PACG are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by IRS regulations.

Our Board Members
Caryn Unsicker, President
Caryn received a Masters Degree in Counseling from U of Iowa. She currently serves on the Silvis City Council. Caryn loves working with young people and spending time with her grandchildren and canine companions. She is active in promoting progressive issues such as peace and justice and saving Social Security among other social issues. Caryn is a past PACG president.
Linnea Crowther-Robinson, Secretary
Linnea is a senior writer for Legacy.com, where she tries to find ways to sneak her progressive beliefs into the celebrity obituaries and feature articles she writes. She founded and led Slow Food Quad Cities, as well as serving on the steering committee and board of the Quad Cities Food Hub. Her passion for environmental responsibility and social justice led her to PACG. David Anderson
David Anderson spent his youth acquiring a Ph.D. in Physics; nowadays he owns his own tutoring business in addition to having a day job. A combination of life experience and studying the historical record led him to realize that championing progressive causes was the most effective way to reduce suffering and improve human welfare.
Ed BrodersEd has a law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and was a long-time ACLU of Iowa Board member. He and his wife live in Davenport.
Loxi HopkinsLoxi is a Wife to one, Mother of 5 and Grandmother to 14. She has been a social justice advocate for at least half her life. Her most important issues of interest are immigration reform and changing the racism and bias that exists in our communities. She is especially concerned about young children and youth of color, and the trauma they suffer from a young age. Loxi is grateful to PACG for giving her an opportunity to work on these important issues with like-minded people.
Susan LeuthauserSusan retired from her second career in occupational and environmental health; she was a medical researcher at the University of Iowa prior to moving to the Quad Cities. She's an advocate for the environment and human rights issues. Her passion is to make this world a better place for the future generations.
Rael Slavensky
Rael spent most of his life in Chicago and started Nursing at Cook County Hospital. Most of his career in Chicago was spent as a Home Health and Hospice Nurse. One of his crowning achievements was helping to organize a union at Chicago VNA. He spent some time doing health care research in the community. He moved to the QCA when he married a world famous biologist who was a professor at the Western Illinois University Quad Cities. He worked for Rock Island County Health Department for 15 years, as a community outreach and Infectious Disease nurse. On retirement, he and his wife started raising Alpacas. Unfortunately, his wife passed away in 2018 but he continues to maintain their farm. Rael looks forward to participating in the good work of PACG.

Glenda Guster, Vice-President
Glenda is retired from the Iowa 7th Judicial Branch after 31 years of service. She has been a resident of the Quad Cities since 1979. She was involved in PACG back in 2008 and took a break in 2012. Glenda is very happy to be back and serving on the Board. Sheis actively involved with the Davenport NAACP and enjoys spending time with her family. She works hard at getting Minorities involved in their political system.
Ann McCluskey, Treasurer"I am amazed that I am sitting on the board at PACG. I have always been impressed with this organization that has the flexibility to adapt to incoming issues over the years. I have tried to serve quietly in the background but have found myself helping with all the events that make organizations fun, i.e., the yearly picnic and the Holiday Party. I have met so many dedicated people. Their vision has propelled PACG forward and it has been great to help with that vision."
Allison Ambrose
Allison is a faculty member in the College of Business at St. Ambrose, where she has taught for 30 years. She is passionate about ensuring that all human beings can live a life of dignity. Her activism caught fire after the 2016 election. She is happy to be serving of the Board of PACG due to the comprehensive nature of the work done by the organization, which captures many of the social justice issues near and dear to her heart!
Cliff DayCliff Day is a retired US Army civilian industrial specialist. He is interested in a wide range of public policy issues, especially those concerning science, technology, renewable energy, and sustainability He has been a resident of Davenport since 1974 and is one of the original members of Progressive Action for the Common good.
Sharita Lacy
Sharita has worked for the Davenport school system as an Attendance Secretary for three years, and she loves her job! She enjoys her interactions with students as well as the staff. She calls herself an onsite mentor for students. The devoted mother of three children is also busy with their school and other activities. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Sharita grew up watching her mother, Glenda Guster, work in the community for the common good. She is looking forward to working with PACG members.
