About PACG
Progressive Action for the Common Good (PACG) began organizing in January of 2005 as a large non-partisan citizens’ group of progressives in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois aimed at engaging folks to take action on a variety of issues within our society.
Our mission statement is: As progressives, we empower people to take action for positive change and social justice by coordinating a network of community forums and events aimed at educating and engaging citizens to work for the common good of all.
Our core values are: Social Justice, Empowerment, Diversity, Sustainability and Community.
Progressive Action for the Common Good (PACG) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions to PACG are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by IRS regulations.

Our Board Members
Glenda Guster, President![]() Glenda is retired from the Iowa 7th Judicial Branch after 31 years of service. She has been a resident of the Quad Cities since 1979. She was involved in PACG back in 2008 and took a break in 2012. Glenda is very happy to be back and serving on the Board. Sheis actively involved with the Davenport NAACP and enjoys spending time with her family. She works hard at getting Minorities involved in their political system.
Linnea Crowther-Robinson, Secretary
![]() Linnea is a senior writer for Legacy.com, where she tries to find ways to sneak her progressive beliefs into the celebrity obituaries and feature articles she writes. She founded and led Slow Food Quad Cities, as well as serving on the steering committee and board of the Quad Cities Food Hub. Her passion for environmental responsibility and social justice led her to PACG. Laronda Bennett![]() Laronda Bennett is from Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Rock Island in 2017. She joined Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she met her husband, Greg. Laronda works for Churches United of the Quad City Area in Bettendorf. As the Administrative Assistant, her role in the office is to support the Executive and Associate Director with the daily operation of the office. That could be from answering phones and writing and distributing emails. The job can be rewarding and challenging! She helps everyone who contacts the office for assistance with, food, rent, utilities, and shelter. The achievement for which Laronda is most proud is deciding to go to school later in life to get her Associate Degree in Logistics Management. She loves to sew and make cards, finding both very relaxing.
Cliff Day![]() Cliff Day is a retired US Army civilian industrial specialist. He is interested in a wide range of public policy issues, especially those concerning science, technology, renewable energy, and sustainability He has been a resident of Davenport since 1974 and is one of the original members of Progressive Action for the Common good.
Sharita Lacy![]() Sharita has worked for the Davenport school system as an Attendance Secretary for three years, and she loves her job! She enjoys her interactions with students as well as the staff. She calls herself an onsite mentor for students. The devoted mother of three children is also busy with their school and other activities. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Sharita grew up watching her mother, Glenda Guster, work in the community for the common good. She is looking forward to working with PACG members.
Alta Price![]() Alta is a retired physician specializing in Pathology. She has lived in the Quad Cities since 1990. She has been involved in PACG since its founding. She got her start in advocacy working for Women's Rights and LGBT Rights. Her current interests include Health Care Reform, Civil Rights, and Criminal Justice Reform.

Allison Ambrose, Vice President![]() Allison is a faculty member in the College of Business at St. Ambrose, where she has taught for 30 years. She is passionate about ensuring that all human beings can live a life of dignity. Her activism caught fire after the 2016 election. She is happy to be serving of the Board of PACG due to the comprehensive nature of the work done by the organization, which captures many of the social justice issues near and dear to her heart!
Ann McCluskey, Treasurer![]() "I am amazed that I am sitting on the board at PACG. I have always been impressed with this organization that has the flexibility to adapt to incoming issues over the years. I have tried to serve quietly in the background but have found myself helping with all the events that make organizations fun, i.e., the yearly picnic and the Holiday Party. I have met so many dedicated people. Their vision has propelled PACG forward and it has been great to help with that vision."
Ed Broders![]() Ed has a law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and was a long-time ACLU of Iowa Board member. He and his wife live in Davenport.
Loxi Hopkins![]() Loxi is a Wife to one, Mother of 5 and Grandmother to 14. She has been a social justice advocate for at least half her life. Her most important issues of interest are immigration reform and changing the racism and bias that exists in our communities. She is especially concerned about young children and youth of color, and the trauma they suffer from a young age. Loxi is grateful to PACG for giving her an opportunity to work on these important issues with like-minded people.
Susan Leuthauser![]() Susan retired from her second career in occupational and environmental health; she was a medical researcher at the University of Iowa prior to moving to the Quad Cities. She's an advocate for the environment and human rights issues. Her passion is to make this world a better place for the future generations.
Deb Sperry![]() Deb is retired after working for more than 31 years in the Health Information Technology field. She primarily worked for a local nursing facility, and also taught online for five years. Towards the end of her career she knew she would have to find something to keep her busy after retirement, and considers herself “fortunate to find PACG.” What she enjoys most about PACG is the forum set up - she found that she could pick several forums that fit her passions, yet this volunteer work is all under one umbrella. Currently she serves on the Civil Rights Forum, the Drug Policy Forum, and the Healthcare Reform Forum. Her primary extra-curricular (non PACG) activities include Moms Demand Action for Common Sense Gun Laws, Iowa Women United, and a pain advocacy group called Don’t Punish Pain. She says she is “honored to be chosen to serve on the PACG board and I hope I can use my experience to further the PACG mission.”

Caryn Unsicker, Communications Director![]() Caryn received a Masters Degree in Counseling from U of Iowa. She currently serves on the Silvis City Council. Caryn loves working with young people and spending time with her grandchildren and canine companions. She is active in promoting progressive issues such as peace and justice and saving Social Security among other social issues. Caryn is a past PACG president.
