Community Events
The following events are being offered by progressive groups in our area. We have now added various progressive calendars at the top of our Community Events page, so you will have to scroll down to find an event of interest to you. But also check out the calendars! There's a lot going on and there are many ways for you to get involved.
Note: If the Quad City schools close due to weather (snow or cold), all non-Zoom PACG meetings and events will be cancelled. Check here for school closings.
Cancellations of events offered by other groups (below) will be listed here if we are informed
about those cancellations in a timely manner.

Community Calendars
Because so many groups are maintaining important calendars of events in the QCA, we decided to display some of them here. We encourage you to connect with all of these organizations to continue doing work for the common good. And if your organization is considering hosting an event, please check these to be sure that you aren't planning something on a day when others have something going on. Read the PACG blog post here to learn about what the groups below are doing, and in some instances, to add your events to their calendars. Remember that the PACG Calendar of our events and actions is here.

Immigration 101: What you need to know now
Tuesday, April 22nd at 6:30 - 7:30 pm via Zoom
Red Wine and Blue
I recently came across the group Red Wine and Blue and am impressed with what they are doing. The following is a Zoom event that they are promoting:
Stories about immigration are everywhere—on our social media feeds, in the news, and in our group chats. Families being separated, asylum seekers being turned away, policies changing overnight. If you’re asking yourself, “What is actually going on?”—you’re not alone.
It’s time to get the facts! Join us to hear from Doris Meissner, a former Commissioner with the Immigration and Naturalization Service and Heidi Altman, VP of Policy at the National Immigration Law Center. These two experts will break down how our current system came to be, what led us to this point, and how new policies are impacting people right now.
This isn’t just about politics—it’s about people, power, and a system that’s long overdue for change. Join us for a better understanding of what’s happening on the ground, why it matters and what you can do.
More information can be found on their website here (including a form for questions you may wish to have the presenters address). The event is free but registration is required.
