World Relief and PACG Civil Rights Forum
World Relief requests the donation of sewing machines, sewing supplies and fabrics for Afghan families recently settled in the Quad Cities. Other current needs include bus passes and personal hygiene items. (There is also an Action Alert on our website for furniture.)
Donated items can be dropped off at the World Relief office at 1852 16th Street, Moline, from Monday through Friday from 9am to 3 pm.
"When you’re forced to leave everything behind in a matter of hours or days, to find safety in another country, sewing machines don’t make the cut."
For reasons that range from cultural identity and utility to soothing stress or fear, many of our Afghan women have requested sewing machines, fabric, and other tools. These familiar items can be a lifeline during cultural adjustment.
If you'd like to donate any of these items, please send us a message or email Beth at [email protected].
